Egypt - Tweeps had to backtrack on their statements when Bafana Bafana beat Egypt in the Round of 16 over the weekend.

From #MabenaMabena to hashtag #IfBafanaWinsEgyptIWill,  South Africa’s national team showed everybody what they are made of.

Now let’s take a look at some of the reactions.

Sports Minister, Nathi Mthethwa, says it will go down in history as a great example of when opportunity meets preparation and courage.

Congratulations to @BafanaBafana for defeating Egypt 1 - 0 & making it to the #AFCON2019 Quarterfinals. This will go down in history as a great example of when opportunity meets preparation & courage. We are super proud of you! And Mpiwe says he had to rewatch the highlights, because it was an exceptional game.

I just had to rewach the #EGYRSA highlights. It was an exceptional game. I look forward to Wedneday night's match.#AFCON2019#mondaythoughts #MondayMotivation
